In today's economic crisis, lots of stay-at-home moms are finding it more difficult to justify staying at home to take care of the kids. Even as the economic troubles deepen, it's quite possible for a busy mom to stay at home with the children, and still earn extra income to contribute to the household. In fact, earning extra income this way might be a bit easier than most people believe, and the easiest way is to make money online.

The first thing you have to consider when it comes to earning money online is the method. There are literally thousands of ways to make money online, and if you pick more than one, you're stretching your resources thin and you're likely to fail. Pick one method and stick with it, working hard at it, and you'll soon find that you have a decent income coming in to supplement what your partner makes.
Whichever method you choose should require minimal amount of time investment, so you can work in your spare time, unless you find yourself having lots of free time to use. If you find the method you've chosen is requiring untold amounts of time and sucking up all of you free time, you've pretty much lost a reason to stay at home with the kids, as you've just committed to a full-time job!
Of course there are scams in Internet marketing. It's okay to pay for an e-book, instructional video, or perhaps a monthly membership but be leery of any programs which require more than a few hundred dollars. Membership sites can be tricky. Read the terms of service very carefully for how to cancel and how much will be charged on a monthly basis. Some programs don't tell you anywhere else except the terms of service that your credit card will be charged every month. While there may be a free trial period the monthly costs can run into the hundreds of dollars.
One great way for stay-at-home moms to make money online is through auction sites, like eBay. If you find yourself frequenting garage sales and yard sales on Saturday mornings, you might want to consider this option. Sometimes, people have no idea of the value of the objects they're selling, and you can scoop them up for a great price and resell them online. This method is a great way to earn income if you're a bargain shopper. Another option for finding items to sell on eBay are state and police auctions, or auctions for self-serve storage sheds in which the rent has gone unpaid. You can find listings for these types of auctions in your local newspaper.
If eBay marketing isn't your thing, but you find yourself being pretty crafty, you might want to consider Etsy. Etsy is an online marketplace in which any homemade objects which have been crafted can be sold. You'll find everything there from jewelry to lampshades! The great thing about this option, is since you're creating things to be sold online, you can involve the kids to help you create them. It provides a great bonding experience, and you'll be making money as well!
