Advice on Bangkok Accommodations

1. Location, location, location. Just like in real estate - find out where you are going to be and what is available around you. Is the bus, train, highway near? Where are the shopping malls? How far is it to that temple you want to visit? Remember when reading through the hotel write-ups - not every hotel is "centrally" located. Avoid Khaosan Road unless you like backpackers.

2. Don't be fooled by a name. Most of the hotels in Bangkok use the words "Grand", "Boutique", "Royal", "Luxury", "Executive" in the name of the hotel - so just because you booked a room at the Royal Grand Executive Luxury Boutique Service Apartments doesn't mean the place will be royal, grand or any of the other words.

3. Ask your friends. If they have gone to Bangkok before, ask them where they stayed and get a recommendation. This doesn't mean you have to stay there - but it should give you some ideas.

4. Shop around. The Internet is a wonderful place. Pop in the name of the hotel you want information on in Google, and you will see a myriad of info and a range of prices. Take good notes. Read actual reviews keeping in mind most people are more willing to write a negative report as opposed to a positive one.

5. Find a forum. There are many forums available on Thailand in general and Bangkok specifically. Most will let you read the info without registering but if you want to post a question you will have to register. A good place to get very current information.

6. Is it near the "action"? Bangkok is infamous for its nightlife and you may or may not want to be close. Most nightlife is centered on Patpong Road (between Silom and Surawongse roads), Nana Entertainment Plaza (Sukhumvit and Soi 4), and Soi Cowboy (near Soi Asoke). So these are the areas to either avoid or make your reservations.

7. Sukhumvit is a very long road. Your friend recommends a hotel on Sukhumvit road but can't remember which Soi (small street or alley) it is on. So, based on her recommendation, you book a room on Sukhumvit and Soi 103 only to realize it is a gazillion miles from anything. If you want to be centrally located - find a place off Sukhumvit between Sois 1 and 23.

8. What else is included? Free breakfast? Free Wireless? Transportation to and from the airport? Cable, Satellite, DVD, International Direct Dial (IDD) phone? Check to see what is and what is not included.

9. Is there a joiner fee? For the single guys who may bring back a guest for the evening, some hotels charge ridiculous amounts of Baht for having a guest. Best to ask first, and then avoid. You may be able to beat this if you book a double - but it isn't worth the hassle.

10. You get what you pay for. Don't expect Marriott service at a flea bag. We all want value for our money - but if you go cheap - don't expect much. Look for a mid-range priced hotel - around USD $50 per night and you should be satisfied. Bangkok, and all of Thailand, has different prices for different times of the year - high and low season. Check the listed prices carefully.

11. Have fun and smile. Remember - you are in a foreign country and they may not do things like they do back home. Keep your cool, avoid arguing and smile. If you have a problem, ask for the manager and explain it with calm words and a pleasant tone. Yelling and screaming will get you nowhere in the Land of Smiles.

12. Online consolidators can often beat the price of a direct booking.

13. You don't land at Don Muang Airport any more. Bangkok has a relatively new airport - Suvarnabhumi - about 50 kilometers further south than Don Muang. Plan your airport hotel accordingly.

14. Don't expect the hotel staff to be fluent in your language. Most will speak English to a degree. Get a dictionary and learn a bit of Thai.

Sex and the City Divas: Developing and owning a sense of self.

Being single myself up until five years ago – and working in the fashion industry for Macy's – I used to love watching the TV series Sex and the City. So I recently dragged my husband to the new release of Sex and the City 2. Watching how each of the four women dressed, developing her own personal style throughout all the years of the TV show, I noticed how comfortable each of them had become in her own skin. Isn't that the struggle that all of us women leaders face? First we become confused, wondering how our life might be different, and then we begin to accept ourselves and feel at ease.

Emerging, Evolving, Invincible Women

In the very beginning of the TV series these women were all single. Over the years, their personal and professional journeys took different paths, which also impacted their style and grace. Each of the four experienced personal and professional challenges, and while they enjoyed taking a rear-view look into their past– they also knew that life was unfolding new adventures that would see them emerge as even stronger leaders.

In one of the movie scenes all four of them are singing the song by Helen Reddy "I am Woman" in a karaoke bar. Carrie, the main character, has come to realize that her career is changing and evolving and that she has to accept the failure her new book launch. She's strong and invincible, as the song says, and doesn't let that disappointment define her. She understands that she must revamp her business column and her books and speak from a different point of view. We are all just like Carrie and the girls. We are women and hear us roar that we are strong, invincible, and constantly evolving and reinventing ourselves.

Every client I have has changed so much over the years. But some of us choose to accept life's challenges differently than others. Here are a few tips to help you sing and unleash your authentic personal brand to exponentially experience greater growth and celebrate the savvy, intelligent, bright, stylish leader you have become.

Our Career Journeys – As strong women we are all on a career journey, and we know that some parts of the journey are wonderful while there are also periods of disappointment. We have been promoted. We've been downsized. As my old boss once told me, you often have to "bloom where you are planted." All of it is part of the career road map that led us to where we are today. Mistakes and setbacks are the tuition paid along the way for career experience, and they can teach us many things.

In the movie, Carrie's latest book is condemned as a failure in a magazine review and she is crushed by disappointment. Haven't we all been crushed by a career derailment? I know that like Carrie, I have. I've also had to get back up, dust myself off, and get back in the game. All successful women at the top of their organizations can tell you the risks – and the mistakes and failures that they made. But they overcame these obstacles and through a great deal of persistence and a positive attitude they rose to the top. The journey isn't always easy and in fact it is sometimes just downright hard and unfair. But here are a few ideas I would ask you to think about in terms of discovering how you have emerged and evolved into the effective leader you are.

Our Unique Personal Journeys – We all have our own different personal journeys, too. We follow many winding paths that mold and shape our lives. Some of you, like me, may have been single for many years and then got married later in life. Or you may have married very young and had a large, beautiful family. Others of you may be in the midst of getting a divorce, caring for your elderly parents, or fighting with some personal health issues. No two of us have experienced the same personal or career journey. That's what makes us unique. Our personal journeys inform our passions, values, relationships, hobbies, and how we love to spend our free time.

Not Seeing the Forest for the Trees – In the movie, Carrie thinks her two year marriage is boring because it lost the sparkle she experienced when she was dating and going out all the time. She realizes that the only man she has ever loved prefers to stay home and spend time with her. Like this wake-up call for Carrie, each of us needs to acknowledge and recognize all the beautiful friends, partners, and family members that support us. It's okay to be yourself and accept life's path. We have all made a few mistakes in life or maybe wished that we had taken a different route – but we didn't. Let go of the past and celebrate what it has created – you as the woman you are today. When you accept who you have become and authentically express yourself clearly to others, people feel a greater sense of connection with you. That's the whole idea of effective branding, because we all like to do business with those we know, like, and trust.

Accept the Evolution of Your Style – So many women don't want to accept the person they have become. Now that doesn't' mean that we all don't have traits or challenges that we need to work on and change or improve. But through our journeys we have become the strong business women we are today! As we have grown along our personal and professional paths we developed our style personality. In the movie, Carrie's style changed. When she was younger and single she wore more dramatic, revealing, tight clothing. But when she married her lifestyle changed and so did her image and style. We see her in this movie with her authentic "Carrie style" which is still all about high fashion – but as an older woman her style is a bit more refined, sophisticated, and less revealing. She's married and older, but is still authentic about who she is. She still embraces and celebrates her own individual style.

Look Age Appropriate but Stylish – Carrie no longer needs to wear revealing clothes. She understands that as we age we can still have authentic style – but it needs to evolve and be age appropriate. I know my personal style has changed through the years and I bet yours has evolved as well. That's only normal and you should be shifting out of what you liked and wore in your earlier years. We don't feel as authentic when we try to dress like we did decades ago when our careers were first starting. It's okay to have a personal style that really represents you. I've seen many women leaders emerge – well into their 70s and 80s – with a great sense of style that really defines their image. But they always look their age – only a more modern version of it.

Know Thy Attributes - As women we need to accept and leverage our strengths even more so than our male colleagues. It's always amazing to me how when I meet clients I can intuitively and immediately see their strengths and gifts. I describe it as one's effervescence – similar to placing an Alka Seltzer tablet into a glass of water and watching bubbles begin to emerge. It's the same way when people meet you – there is something that you are passionate about that bubbles to the surface. People immediately notice it coming out of every part of you. Once you understand that attribute it becomes a secret branding weapon you can use to leverage your career.

I always tell my clients to take some time for introspection. Think about your personal and professional journey and positively pull all the great events of your life and use them to narrate a branding biography. Know that your journey and personal growth are valuable elements to help you describe your personal brand and style. Stay the course and remember that great brands continue to evolve and reinvent themselves – just as great people do.

HEAVY METAL: Not Good When It Comes to the Brain

I’m not talking about heavy metal music, although frequency-wise that’s an interesting topic on its own. I’m writing about health news regarding the brain that has been published lately, and I’d like to share some of it. As an energetic health practitioner who works with the Chinese Five Element and Meridian System, Metal Element is particular to this time of year. Metal deals with intellect, precision, values and . Obviously, input=output. Mental function is directly related to what you ingest, digest and filter through all of your senses. The following article details some factors to consider to improve the overall positive functioning of your brain.

Take Inventory of Your Environmental Toxins: You are exposed to a number of chemicals and irritants everyday. This has a direct impact on the demand placed on your body-mind system to process toxins. Decrease your exposure. Less stress on your body-mind system=more optimal life energy flow.

1.Cadmium: automobile products (black rubber, seat covers, burned motor oil), evaporated milk, processed foods, sprays on fruits and vegetables and soft drinks
2.Aluminum: deodorants, pots and pans, shampoos, storage wraps for foods, and antacids
3.Lead: canned foods, leaded candle sticks, lead or soldered water pipes, lead paint, colored or glossy newsprint, soil, vehicle emissions, cigarette smoke, municipal water supplies (soft water and lead pipes), and some calcium supplements
4.Mercury: dental fillings, fish, the preservative thimerasol in vaccines, coal fired power plants and trash incinerators.
5.Pesticides: agriculture, lawns, golf courses, and veterinary practice
6.Personal and Household Products: According to The Brain Wash by Michelle Schoffro Cook, there are significant issues with products we use in our homes for the purpose of and hygiene. A number of ingredients in shampoos, toothpaste, deodorant and perfume report significant negative effects on our central nervous system and cognitive function. Chemicals in mattresses, cleaners, carpets and dryer sheets contain numerous neurotoxins.
What Actions Can You Take to Support Your Brain’s Functioning?

: In a study done by Dr. Steven Pratt, six foods are suggested to help preserve your health and fight the of the brain: pomegranate, blueberries, walnuts, spinach, almonds, and oranges. Researchers at Oxford University in England have found that B12 plays an important role on mental function. Foods such as eggs, yogurt, tuna, salmon, rainbow trout, clams, swiss cheese, milk, chicken and beef contain B12. For vegetarians, wheat germ or cereals fortified with B12 is a good alternative if you are not getting it from a supplement. Drink green tea to protect your brain. Eat organic dark chocolate. Get the anti-inflammatory benefits of ginger, celery and cherries. Cook with sage, tumeric, fennel, marjoram, thyme and cilantro.

To support detox:* Eat whole foods. Decrease intake of processed foods. Include olives, olive oil, onions, purple and red grapes, garlic and organic dark leafy greens in your . Limit sugar and alcohol consumption to improve the functioning of your immune filtering system. Filter your drinking water. Include a probiotic such as acidophilus bifidus as part of your care for your digestion and balance of friendly bacteria. *Vitamin E, C, magnesium, Selenium,Coenzyme Q10, and Ginko Biloba have been identified as antioxidant support for the brain. Work with a certified nutritional health practitioner to help you, if needed.

Go Outside: Physical activity that includes cardiovascular also improves your cognitive functioning in the areas of processing speed, attention and motor skills. Find a way to keep variations of cycling, swimming and in your routine. Stepping away from the electromagnetic field radiation from electronic devices also helps to re-energize and bring more clarity to your thinking. Take a walk on the beach or next to saltwater to get negative ions to strengthen autonomic nerve and cellular function. If you cannot get to saltwater, burn a rock salt lamp in your home with a non-petroleum candle. Using houseplants such as spider plants near your computer also create more oxygen-rich air to breathe for oxygen delivery to the brain. The brain and the nervous system need the most oxygen in your body for optimal functioning.

Expand and Share your Life Purpose Gifts: Stay connected to what interests and inspires you. Learn something new! Take in . Take in color through foods, art, and . Join a group to keep you inspired and connected to others. Volunteer. Nurture joy and love by offering it to yourself and others. On the Chinese Medicine Wheel this is Fire Element warming Metal Element to creating harmony and balance for and a rich inner life.

Triathlon Clothing: Guide to Compression

Compression has been used in the treatment and prevention of venous problems for many years; it is now being adopted by triathlon athletes to provide the following functions:

1. Stimulating circulation to specific muscle groups
2. Reduce the build up of lactic acid
3. Providing support and stability to targeted muscles
4. Reduce muscle vibration

Athletes in many sports, not just triathlon, wear compression garments before, during and after exercise for the following reasons:

1. Improved performance
2. Delay the onset of fatigue
3. Reduce the risk of injury
4. Reduced muscle discomfort
5. Speed up recovery times

Key Considerations & Next steps

1. The main purpose for buying the compression item - some items are designed for general use whilst others are specifically designed to be worn before, during or after exercise so check your item does what you want.
2. The area of the body you are hoping to target - compression clothing are generally targeted at specific muscle groups so make sure you are buying the most appropriate item for your needs.
3. Research the different compression garment options for a specific muscle group - for example, if you are looking for calf support whilst running would you find a compression sock more comfortable than a calf guard or a stirrup?
4. The practicality of wearing the garment - for example, if you are looking to wear a calf guard for the run discipline of a triathlon do you really want to wear it for the swim and bike disciplines if not do you want to spend the time in T2 to put the item on?
5. Consider the effect of adding an additional layer of clothing - in cold weather conditions the addition of another layer on your torso may not be a problem however in hot weather this may lead to overheating.
6. Ensure you buy the correct size - compression clothing by its very nature is designed to be tight so make sure that it is, loose compression clothing will not work. Most manufacturers will have detailed sizing charts. If you are between sizes then opt for the smaller size as long as it is still comfortable.

Next steps:

Once you have taken these considerations in to account do your research and give it a try, some triathlon athletes swear by it whilst others are indifferent.

FAQ: Here is a selection of frequently asked questions regarding compression:

* Does compression work? Always a popular question, all we can say is that some athletes swear by it whilst others are indifferent. We at Tri20 have had good experiences with it but we will never know whether or not we would have had the same results had we not been wearing it!
* Can I wear my compression wear under a wetsuit? Yes you can but be aware that moisture of any kind will degrade the materials faster and be especially careful of using them in chlorinated water such as swimming pools. Always follow the manufacturer's aftercare instructions.
* Am I allowed to wear compression clothing in races? In the majority of races it is allowed however it is always worth checking as it is prohibited in some events.
* How long do I need to wear my compression garment to gain maximum benefits? It is generally accepted that the longer the garment is worn the greater the benefit in recovery. However we have read articles that talk about effective time frames between 4 and 24 hours.
* Are there any medical conditions that mean I should not wear compression garments? Always check with the manufacturer's guidelines; I have seen articles referring to the use of compression stockings during pregnancy before so am sure that other information will be available.
* Will compression items restrict my range of movement? The materials used in this type of clothing are typically very thin and should not be restrictive. If they are restrictive this may be an indication that you have the incorrect size, if possible try before you buy.
* How do I know if I have the right size? Most compression clothing manufacturers will have a comprehensive sizing chart available. Generally speaking, the clothing should feel tight whilst still providing a full range of movement and should not cut in to the skin or pinch the skin at any point of contact. If you are between sizes then opt for the smaller size as long as it is still comfortable.
* Is compression wear appropriate for younger triathlon athletes? It is always worth checking with the manufacturer's own guidelines; there are some manufacturers that do youth specific garments.

Putting your compression garments on

Compression garments are designed to be tight fitting and as such you should take care when putting them on to prevent damage to any part of the item. Whilst the materials used compression clothing do possess excellent elasticity qualities we would recommend taking your time and don't force larger limbs through small openings - for example if you are putting on a calf guard, take care when fitting this over your foot. Be especially careful with the clothing gripping areas which are always slightly less stretchy. It is often easier to progressively pull the clothing into place rather than try and get it on in a single movement.

***If Only One Voice Matters, What Is Yours Saying?

When I was in graduate school studying music composition, my singing professor told me that the pitch of my speaking voice was too high and proceeded to show me my ‘real’ voice. Deeper in pitch, warm and resonant, my ‘real’ voice no longer exhibited whiny, young-sounding qualities.

At the same time, I was waiting on tables at an exquisite restaurant in Columbia, Maryland, by the name of King’s Contrivance. Upon discovering my real voice, I knew I was going to sell more food. And, it worked. I sounded more mature; I sold the higher-priced items; and, my tips went up.

After graduate school, I moved to New York and landed the jobs I wanted because of my voice. I sounded confident â€" I sounded like I knew what I was talking about.

Does your speaking voice exude confidence and maturity? If you are over 21 and sound like a teenager or younger still, how does it reflect upon the image you are projecting? Perhaps your voice sounds wimpy, nasal, strident, harsh, too loud or too soft. Make no mistake about it: the sound of your speaking voice is part of the image you are projecting.

Worse still is the fact that the voice I am referring to is the one you hear on your answering machine â€" the one which possibly embarrasses or humiliates you. Unfortunately, the voice you hear in your head is not how everyone else recognizes you. This is one of the reasons we don’t recognize ourselves on recording equipment.

I can’t tell you how many people are embarrassed when I video record them â€" embarrassed before I even begin taping! If you are embarrassed by what you hear on your voicemail, answering machine, or some other form of recording equipment, why you not do something to rectify the problem?

You have a much better voice inside. It is deeper in pitch, warmer in quality and has the ability to be projected without shouting. In order to find that voice, you will have to use your chest cavity â€" the largest of your 5 resonators responsible for the production of voiced sound â€" to power it. The differences between your ‘old’ voice and your ‘real’ one can be quite dramatic. One of the best changes I have ever seen is a young man named Craig. Little did we know how great his voice was until he made the change.

If image matters to you and you find the voice you hear on your voicemail irritating, annoying or revolting, why not make the change watch what happens to the image you are projecting!

***Smart Kitchen Organizer Ideas for Busy Moms

Watching shows on cable television is oftentimes more about indulging a fantasy than it is about how to cook a particular meal. The fantasy isn’t about eating the food either. It is about having access to those amazing kitchens!

Seeing those unbelievably spacious kitchens being flaunted before your very eyes can throw a normally calm person into a jealous fit. “Does that stove actually have ten burners?” “Look at all that counter space!” “Okay, no one on Earth has such a well-organized refrigerator. This is totally unrealistic.” It can all get pretty exhausting.

What many people don’t realize is that they can free up a lot of space in their own kitchen with a few simple organizers. Even the smallest kitchens can seem dramatically larger if you have access to the right storage solutions.

Here are a few organization ideas for busy moms (or dads!) who are in the kitchen a lot and could really use the extra space.

Spice Stack

Every cook knows how much of a mess their spice rack can quickly turn into. Things get knocked around and wedged into crevices and pretty soon your “lazy Susan” is paralyzed. So much for a dash of cinnamon in your eggnog when it is forever lost in the far reaches your spice cabinet. It’s like the dark side of the moon back there. It never sees daylight.

The Spice Stack, however, makes storing your spices easy, and it is designed so that you can’t overload it. And since it has room enough to store up to sixty spices, you will probably never need to!

The Spice Stack has a three-tier design and each tier has a pull-out drawer, which flips out on a hinge so you can easily see what is in there. The drawers are even color-coded to make finding that perfect flavor even easier. If you feel like you need even more storage space, the Spice Stack is designed so that one can be conveniently stacked on top of another.

Slim Slide out Pantry

One easy way to maximize space in a small kitchen is by taking advantage of every little nook and cranny. A great way to do that is with the Slim Slide Out Pantry.

If you don’t have a lot of cabinet space then you probably don’t have much room to buy a big traditional pantry. The Slim Slide Out Pantry is designed to slide right into previously unused space like the little area between your refrigerator and the counter.

It has three shelves for storage and is set on casters so that it can easily be slid in and out. This convenient little space-saver is also great for out in the garage, in the laundry room, or your bathroom. It measures 5” x 21 ¾” by 26 ¾”.

Range Shelf

One of the cardinal sins of kitchen organization is “Thou shalt not keep the microwave on the counter.” On average a microwave takes up a whopping four square feet of space! If you have a small kitchen that is space you desperately need for preparing meals.

The range shelf easily installs right on top of your stove. It is also convenient because it puts the microwave right at eye level. The Range Shelf is also made of textured steel with porcelain side supports. It measures 30” x 18 ¼” by 15 1/8” (above the top of the stove).

Adjustable Door Rack

Never underestimate the need for a well-stocked pantry. If you live in the temperate climate zones then there is probably going to be at least one snowstorm every winter that keeps you in the house for a few days.

The adjustable door rack is another great way to maximize space for all those cans of chili and boxes of pasta that might come in handy some day. It can easily be mounted right onto any door and has seven racks. Each rack can hold about six average size cans of food.

Pot Lid Holder

The cabinet where you keep your pots and pans can quickly get just as messy as the worst spice rack. Part of the reason for this is that you naturally want to stack the pans inside one another, but then what do you do with all the lids?

The pot lid holder utilizes a simple design to solve this common problem. It has three wire shelves and can easily be mounted to your wall or right inside the cabinet door. It can organize approximately five pot lids, depending on their size. It measures 13” x 4 ¼” x 18 ¼”.

Most people will never know the luxury of one of those fancy television kitchens. Average moms and dads will forever be bumping into each other while chopping the carrots for the salad. However, with a few simple organization techniques you can easily make a small kitchen seem a whole lot larger.

Hotels Accommodation – Selecting a Hotel that is Right for You

One of the most challenging aspects of planning a trip to an unfamiliar destination is the booking of your hotels accommodation. When you try to search for the ideal hotel, you may be overwhelmed by the sheer number of hotels that vie for your attention.

Selecting a hotel that suits your expectations is important to get the most out of your entire trip, as a good hotel can complement your visit with the right amenities and location. Also, expensive hotels may not always be the best choices when it comes to good service and convenience as there have been great improvements in hotel standards all around. Hence, some research is needed to select the hotel that is right for you, with the following helpful tips below to aid your search.

Setting your hotel budget

Setting a budget for your trip should involve deciding how much of it would go towards spending on your accommodation. This would help you to shortlist an accommodation type which you would be most comfortable with, whether it is cheap budget hotels or more expensive four and five-star hotels. Thus, it would be much easier to continue your hotel search within this smaller field.

Besides looking at the room rates of various hotels, you should also bear in mind their inclusions (or lack thereof) in the room rates to get a more accurate picture of what exactly you are paying for. These inclusions can be meals, facility use, in-house movies or parking fees, to name a few.

Choosing a good location

Choosing a good location for your hotel is essential for getting the most out of your hotel stay. Before doing so, do consider the purpose of your visit. If your visit comprises mostly of sightseeing or business in a certain area, you can consider choosing a hotel in the vicinity. This would help you to save on potentially expensive commuting costs. Staying near public transport networks is also a good idea if you rely heavily on public transport for travel.

Another factor that you may like to consider is the noise levels of the hotel's surroundings. If you would like to relax in a quieter environment, do consider a location further from the main traffic and nightlife areas to enjoy an uninterrupted night's rest.

Considering what amenities you need

When booking your hotel, you should also consider what kinds of amenities you need that would be helpful to your trip and which ones you are willing to forego. This will assist in your hotel selection such that you only choose the one that provides you with the most convenience.

For example, you might want to consider a hotel with 24-hour room service if you wish to satisfy your hunger at night without purchasing many snacks. If easy accessibility to the airport or downtown areas is what you need, you might wish to consider a hotel with shuttle services to these areas.

The range of amenities in the hotel should also meet your needs, so be sure to check if it has gyms, spas, swimming pools, conference facilities or other facilities that you need. Lastly, an important consideration when you are bringing your family on your travels is whether the hotel has family-friendly amenities and services such as children's activity or day care centres and swimming pools for children.

Fear, Anxiety & Resistance - Fears of Creative People - PART TWO

Fears are a natural part of the creative process. All multi-talented people experience fear, , worry and resistance at some point. After you’ve identified the true nature of your fears and resistance (see Part One of this series), you can then use proven techniques to manage and reduce them. Parts 2 & 3 of this series will cover how to overcome fear and how to manage creative fears.

Approach # 1: Feel the Fear & Do it Anyway

Susan Jeffers, Ph.D. has made a career out of helping people overcome fears by taking action. In her many, terrific books are numerous, helpful tools to manage and reduce fear. In a nutshell, she says EVERYONE is afraid, so it’s no biggie that you are. Your fear will grow until you take action. So…'feel the fear and do it anyway’. ANY action will reduce your . It’s better to do something/anything than wallow in helplessness. Her recommended mantra: “whatever happens, I’ll handle it”.

Think of it: Stage fright dissolves during the first few minutes of a performance. Applying gesso to canvas is considerably more pleasant than rending your garments because you’re afraid your next painting won’t be good enough. Jotting down dreck feels better than sitting there, paralyzed by writers’ block.

Approach #2: Use Logic

Sometimes, it’s possible to overcome fear or by arguing ourselves out of it. Here are some activities to try:

* Dispute unhelpful, fear-producing thoughts. If your fear is “I’m too old to make it as a sousaphone player”, contest it. Generate as much evidence to the contrary as you can. (e.g. I know several successful sousaphone players who recorded their first CD when they were decades older than me. Age doesn’t matter. I’m a better player now than I was ten years ago. It’s only too late if I give up now).

* Take a moment to write down a list of your past successes. If you can do these things, is it not possible that you can do this thing that’s causing you fear or anxiety?

* Identify your specific fear (e.g. My screenplay won’t sell). Now write down the belief you would prefer to have occupying your thoughts (e.g. I am becoming a successful screenwriter). Now, write down everything you can think of to support this preferred belief (e.g. I’m a good writer; I’ve placed well in the contests; I’ve received praised from these professionals; I know I’m better than the folks who wrote this weekend’s awful teenaged horror flick â€" if they got their script made, so can I). Make a strong case for any belief that will support you in your endeavor.

* From guru Julia Cameron: Who are you to say the gifts you were given aren’t good enough? Barbra Streisand stopped performing for years because she was afraid she’d forget the lyrics she was singing. She deprived the world of decades of beautiful music because of her fear. What gifts is your anxiety keeping from the world?

*Remind yourself that everyone feels fear. If folks like Andrea Bocelli, Barbra Streisand, Sir Laurence Olivier, Kim Basinger and Carly Simon can succeed despite experiencing major stage fright, so can you.

* From Tony Robbins: Write down 10 “impossible” things you’re already accomplished acquired or become. Now consider the task that’s causing you anxiety. How can you accomplish it, anyway?

* Try a reality check: What’s your criteria for success? How realistic is it? Have you set the bar so high, you are dooming yourself to failure? For example, if your objective is to be an Academy Award winning editor, you may find yourself disappointed with anything less. What if, rather than an end state or product, you defined success as ‘making progress every day for a month’? But perhaps you think that if you make winning ‘too easy’, you won’t try as hard. Think again: Being on target with your ‘daily progress’ translates into feelings of accomplishment which induce you to accomplish more while actually enjoying the experience â€" rather that fretting and berating yourself over unrealistic expectations.

Approach #3: Feel something/anything other than fear

Fear can be paralyzing, depressing, debilitating and otherwise awful. Dwelling on the negative doesn’t help. The longer you stay in fear, the more damage you’re doing. It is critical to move from fear to any other emotion. ANY other emotion â€" even anger or jealousy -- is more likely to trigger action and any action is likely to spark more positive emotions.

Regardless of your feelings about the more woo-woo aspects of the ‘Abraham Hicks’ / philosophy, in their Esther & Jerry Hicks provide concrete, practical techniques to move from fear to other, more positive emotions. For example, you can write down your fear, then seek any statement that feels better. Jot down any other way to look at the situation until you generate a sentence that feels more positive than your fear statement. For example, “I’m afraid the producer won’t hire me” holds you in a victim mentality whereas “I’m jealous that Inga just got a great gig” or “I’m steamed I still have to shop my work like this” are better thoughts on which to dwell because they are more likely to lead you to ponder “So, what am I going to do about this?”

Activity:

1. Identify your top fear at this moment.

2. Try at least one of ‘Use Logic’ activities.

3. Turn to Part Three of this series to examine seven other approaches to overcome fear and anxiety.

Sexy Dresses: Reflecting our Underneath Nature

We all seem to share the common perspective of looking beautiful. Clothes ever knew the secret but never made us aware until the day we start wearing clothes for different purposes. We are literally talking about clothes. Clothes that make us feel the more and explore the more. Sexy dresses represent that section of clothing industry. The question is that do we wear clothes with an intention to express more or just to take an advantage of the things. There was never a time more appropriate to start a talk show debate over the usage and impact of sexy dresses.
If reports are to be believed, then majority of the sexy lingerie designs have come into existence in the last decade or so. People enjoy being in their body and wrapped around by apparel that is just manufacture to cover few parts of the body and not some big old secret. Lingerie enhances our sexual life experiences. Sexy costumes are manufactured just to cater to few specific needs. The best compliment that a human mind could ever come up with is that clothes are our second best attempt to be social. Special moments require some extra attention. Bridal lingerie has got many bright aspirations attached to it. The whole feel factor is too hot to be handled over here. It was never thought of that a man would be at the receiving end once she starts flaunting her sexy lingerie.
Sexy dresses have come up as one of the favorite shopping list items. Girls and women love to spend time and money on such products. There has been a significant increase in the market share percentage of sexy costumes. Online platform is also responsible for the success factor. It is easy to shop online as people really need not to go places to find a pair of lingerie that suits them the most. Erotic lingerie is a step further in the same direction taken by designers and industry experts. The initial phase of any new idea is always hungry for criticism and anti movement. Similar was the response when such lingerie was made public.
Lingerie is just another style cut from the same fabric that prompts our formal and occasional wear. Sexy dresses are not only meant to heighten sexual pleasure but also to keep the fire burning long after the affair was over. This type of clothing has made its way to every bedroom or professional space. The reason behind our attempt to focus on erotic lingerie is to showcase our basic needs while we are alone or with our partners. Clothes could never act as mischievous elements unless we are not prepared. But it is also true that some feelings only take the shape of visualization when they are kept under covers and not revealed.Yachika Verma has many hobbies and interests. As well being a keen blogger and article writer for many sites, she has also recently created a site focusing on sexy dresses and if you wish to buy lingerie at best price, simply click on the links.

Payday Loans – Beware of These Otherwise Excellent Loan Schemes

Payday loans or at times as well called as cash advance loans are supposed to be the way out to get urgent cash if you are in financial trouble between your two paydays. You may want cash immediately for something that can't wait on until you get paid next. However, you should in no way misuse the payday loan service, because numerous individuals will inform you that this is how they got into debt and struggled to escape out of it once more.

Remember payday loans are short term loans that are offered for 7 to 21 days and you need to pay back the entire loan amount along with all the relevant fees and interest when you get your next salary. If you do not pay back this loan amount when it is due, miss the payment or ask for the extension as you find yourself unable to pay back the loan amount on time, then it is not just the loan amount with the previous fees, however as well additional loan fee and an extremely high rate of interest will be added by the payday loan lender. As a result of the high interest rate charged by payday loan lenders, the amount turns out to be a great deal more than you initially had taken, and can turn out to be a trouble to pay it back all immediately.

As a result of you letting the payday loan to roll into another term you will at once be acquiring additional interest and this in turn makes the pay back sum a lot more, making it almost impossible to pay it off the next payday. It is sensible to make an effort and raise urgent cash using some other means if you find yourself unable to repay it on time. It may perhaps be more beneficial to have a cash loan from a relative or friend who would most likely not charge you the interest. If it is a sum unpaid that needs to be paid, instead make an effort to get the payment deferred till you get your next paycheck.

Owing to the truth that several people fall into debt due to very high interest rates, these loan schemes are banned in several states in US. Interest rates tend to be way above the average rates charged by banks and other financial institutions. Unbelievable but true these payday loans attract $20 to $30 per $100 you borrow per week, when you calculate this on the scale of APR then it could sometimes run into as high as 1500% or more.

However, payday loans are very fast and easy and borrowers can have access to fast cash loans online by filling in simple online application. It makes the entire process seem very simple and uncomplicated, so much so that several people get a loan when it is not at all required. Despite the fact that these loans can assist you in a crisis, at all times be careful of falling into debt. Take care that you have the resources to pay the loan amount back on time.

The Constant Flow of Change

"All is impermanent." What a depressing thought, but only to an untrained, worldly mind. Impermanence is never lost, just a flow of change; a flow of change that is an ultimate truth and therefore an ultimate security.
What is it that we instead depend upon for our security? When I was a young man I depended upon my strong body and mind to excel in sports, earn an athletic scholarship, attend college, and then go on to establish a career and raise a family.
The family is now grown, middle aged themselves, and the body is becoming creaky. The mind is not as sharp as it once was. These things that I depended upon for my ultimate security have all changed, and nothing I can do will affect that.
But if I can step away from "my" ultimate security for just a moment, there is a kind of security in the flow of existence, the regeneration of grandchildren and their children, and the cycle of faces and people to follow.
What is ultimate security?
But I have learned from experience that these physical cycles and things which I attach to will not afford the ultimate security that I desire, and typically when seniors hit this wall of growing old themselves, they will turn to religion. To verify this, check the demographics in any church.
We can make things permanent in our minds psychologically, however. If we believe in God, whatever that happens to be for each of us, He becomes a permanent fixture because the mind can retain the image of our particular God and reinvent it endlessly as long as we have the capacity to reason.
We can also imagine that when our physical existence ends, our ideas of the real essence of ourselves, perhaps kind of an astral, wispy shadow of ourselves, will spiritually continue to exist in other realms or maybe here on earth as a ghost where we can continue to enjoy the company with our loved ones (of course from an admittedly one-sided relationship!)
So the mind can conjure up all kinds of scenarios to ease the pain and the reality of impermanence. When things change, then we can imagine an even better outcome resulting from that change. That's called positive thinking.
But positive thinking is just physical thinking after all, and within the law of impermanence falls thinking itself. So what is thinking? And why is it impermanent?
The mystery of thought.
Have you ever noticed, perhaps in front of the bathroom mirror in the mornings, how your mind goes from one thing to another, never stopping to even take a breath? Can you see the impermanence there of each thought which almost immediately morphs into the next one depending upon simple cause and effect, the next thought being conditioned by the previous one? Part of meditation is being aware of how these thoughts behave, instead of being completely caught up in them.
Where do thoughts come from? Have you ever watched the mind and how it works? How it promotes all the things that comprise just an illusion of self into a concrete belief in a self, in an ego?
Our only contact with the world are our sense organs, If you were blind, deaf, numb all over, lost your capacity to taste and smell, there would no longer be a world. Only your mental images and memories would remain. No more relationships with anything or anybody.
Therefore our relationship to the world and other beings depends solely upon our sense organs. So how do they work? And how does thought arise?
How does the mind work?
When we see something, what does that mean? What has to transpire for that sight to register in the mind are three things. First there has to be an object of attention, which let's say is a tree that we are looking at. Then secondly, there has to be a sense organ to register the tree, which would be the eye. And thirdly, there would have be to within that eye something called consciousness or awareness which would connect the organ with its object, the tree. And then we "see" a tree.
Now once we "see" the tree, a few other things happen almost simultaneously in the mind. The first is perception. We "perceive" what we are looking at by searching our memory banks to see if the object is familiar. Ah, yes, I remember, that is a tree! So we define and categorize it. If it's something that we are entirely unfamiliar with, then the mind connects it as closely as it can with other things in its memory banks. In those rare instances where there is nothing close to what we are seeing, then we tend to stare at it dumbfounded!
After we perceive the tree, and categorize it as a "tree,' we then make a snap judgment as to whether we like this object or not, or whether we might be simply neutral toward it. If we like it, the mind immediately attaches to it and thought develops in trying to figure out how we can make that tree our own. Thought will quickly dismiss uprooting it and taking it home, but will instead think about where the camera is, and imagine our friends and neighbors thrilling to the possibility of looking through our thousands of photos, this being one of them!
One more thing then comes into play again, and this is consciousness. Consciousness connects all the dots of an eye, a tree, awareness, perception, memory, and thought into an illusion of a watcher, which is watching all of this. This connecting of the dots is the builder of "self," the construction of ego, and this very construction, as illusory as it is, becomes a real entity in the mind, a fabricated entity that now has to be defended and preserved.
This is what is called basic ignorance, the ignorance and delusion that precipitates an attachment that supersedes death and seeks out physical form after death in order to re-experience the senses and the illusion of ego once again.
This endless transference of illusion is called the cycle of life and death. An endless cycle as long as the mind continues to connect the dots and create a self. Once this endless cycle of illusion is broken, however, then impermanence is no longer valid.
Then the material world is transcended by mind and is free to never again return to physical existence and its prisons of impermanence, discontent and self.
       E. Raymond Rock (anagarika addie) is a meditation teacher at:
http://www.dhammarocksprings.org/ and author of “A Year to Enlightenment: http://www.amazon.com/Year-Enlightenment-Steps-Enriching-Living/dp/1564148912
His 30 years of meditation experience has taken him across four continents including two stopovers in Thailand where he practiced in the remote northeast forests as an ordained Theravada Buddhist monk.
He lived at Wat Pah Nanachat under Ajahn Chah, at Wat Pah Baan Taad under Ajahn Maha Boowa, and at Wat Pah Daan Wi Weg under Ajahn Tui. Head to the Caves of Drac for a fascinating day out in Mallorca

When heading for a break to one of the many Mallorca farmhouses which are available to rent on the island, you will certainly not be short of places to go and things to do.
But one of the definite must-sees on a holiday to a quality farmhouse in Mallorca are the stunning Caves of Drac.
These can be found on the south-west coast of the island, in the Porto Cristo region, which is easily accessible by public transport or for those seeking to hire a car.
The stunning natural beauty of these caves attracts thousands of people each year and there are certainly a number of surprises to await you on a visit to the attraction. The caves are home to a beautiful underground lake and the interesting rock formations of the Caves of Drac is also well worth seeing.
There are many farmhouses in Mallorca which are nearby to this impressive natural attraction and for those keen to be close by to the caves, searching for one close by before heading off on holiday could be wise.
Nestled deep underground in Mallorca, which is the largest of all the islands in the Balearics, the cave complex is made up of ten different areas. Some of the best known parts to visit include the Luis Salvator Cave and the Black Cave.
Interesting rock formations which are said to resemble monks and cactuses can also be found in the cave complex and you may want to visit these figures for a spot of good luck. Other fascinating natural sights in the Caves of Drac include stalagmites and stalactites.
One particular rock formation is said to resemble a frosty peak and is therefore nicknamed the Snow Mountain rock. The amazing Ruined Mountain rock is also well worth a look on a visit to the caves.
Most visitors to the cave choose to see the underground sights by boat. Heading into the caves on a boat trip can give you the chance to get right up close to all of the most interesting rock formations the Caves of Drac have to offer.
The water in the underground lake is noted for its crystal blue colour and its clarity, meaning you can see all the way down to the bottom.
On this boat trip, you can check out the wonderful Fairy Theatre, a huge chamber in the caves. Soothing classical music is played by onboard musicians as you sail around the caves, adding to the mysterious air of the trip.
However, if you do not fancy seeing the sights of the cave by boat, there are other options. The cave complex is handily filled with elevated walkways which can offer brilliant views of the natural beauty of the caves as well as the large lake below.
Perhaps most surprisingly, the underground caves complex boasts its very own auditorium which is a fascinating place to settle down and watch a concert.
After you venture out of the caves and into the warm Mallorca sun, you will surely be keen to find somewhere to relax, perhaps with a traditional Spanish meal and a glass of sangria.
Like the rest of this fun-filled island, the area around the caves is full of places to eat and drink and no matter what kind of restaurant you are searching for - from a Spanish taverna serving hearty burritos or a pizza place catering for children and teenagers - you are sure to find it here.
There are many beaches on Mallorca which are perfect for relaxing on with a book and a cocktail and if you really like the idea of truly chilling out on a holiday to Mallorca, then make sure you find a Mallorca farmhouse which is nearby to a sandy spot.
Even better, seek out a place to stay with a pool, which can offer you the chance to enjoy a swim and a sunbathe without listening to the hustle and bustle of other holidaymakers.
The town of Porto Cristo has its own harbour and port and from here, you can head out on a boat trip in a glass-bottomed vessel. This kind of trip is sure to appeal to those families heading to Mallorca with children and offers an interesting glimpse of life beneath the waves.
If you are looking for a quality farmhouse in Mallorca look no further than Mallorca Farmhouses. Search self-catered accommodation for farmhouses in Mallorca.
